Regular Council

RESOLVED THAT: the Regular Meeting commence at the hour of 7:00 p.m. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: Council acknowledges that we are meeting in the Robinson-Superior Treaty area on lands that have been traditionally used by several Indigenous nations, but, we would like to pay special recognition to our closest Indigenous neighbours, the communities of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and Pic Mobert First Nations. We wish to recognize the long history of the First Nations and Métispeoples in our region, specifically, and show respect to them today.

RESOLVED THAT: the agenda be approved as amended.

RESOLVED THAT: Council has been provided a presentation by the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) regarding Review of Fire Protection Services in the Corporation of the Township of Manitouwadge; and further, THAT Council appreciates the support that the OFM provided to the Township of Manitouwadge over the past 18 months; and further, THAT Council thanks the OFM for attending and providing the presentation to Council.

RESOLVED THAT: the Minutes of the Special Council Meeting held March 13, 2023, are adopted as circulated.

RESOLVED THAT: the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting held March 22, 2023, are adopted as circulated.

RESOLVED THAT: correspondence items 08-01 to 08-04, be received and filed.

RESOLVED THAT: the Minutes of Meeting of the Manitouwadge Public Library Board held February 13, 2023, be accepted as received.

RESOLVED THAT: the Minutes of Meeting of the Thunder Bay District Board of Health held February 15, 2023, be accepted as received.

RESOLVED THAT: Council is in receipt of Administration Report FD2023-01 submitted by Don Kruger, Fire Chief regarding Fire Chief’s Response to the OFM’s Review of Fire Protection Services in the Corporation of the Township of Manitouwadge; and further, THAT Council receive this report for information purposes.

RESOLVED THAT: Council is in receipt of Administration Report ADM2023-13 submitted by Florence MacLean, CAO regarding Joint Health and Safety Committee, Revised Terms of Reference; and further, THAT Council approves the revisions to the Terms of Reference for the Joint Health and Safety Committee as presented in the CAO's Report to Council dated April 12, 2023; and further, THAT Council welcomes the inclusion of a member of the Manitouwadge Fire Department to participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

RESOLVED THAT: Council is in receipt of Administration Report ADM2023-14 submitted by Florence MacLean, CAO regarding Joint Health and Safety Committee – Committee Appointment; and further, THAT Council appoint the following staff member to the Joint Health and Safety Committee: • Todd Michael Begin - Union Representative

WHEREAS Section 239(4) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25 provides that before holding a meeting or part of a meeting that is to be closed to the public, a municipality or local board or committee of either of them, shall state by resolution the fact of holding of the closed meeting and the general nature of the matter to be considered at the closed meeting; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: this meeting is hereby closed to the public as the subject matter being discussed falls under the following section: 01 Section 239(2)(b): personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees. • CAO Contract

RESOLVED THAT: the meeting is hereby declared to be open to the public at 8:15 p.m.
